My name is Sara Wickham (42). I started Taking The Lead on 1st July 2015. I started off just offering dog walking due to living in a 1 bedroom first floor flat. As I signed up more clients, it became evident that there was a real need for a home from home boarding facility that would be able to offer dog boarding to all dogs, including dogs who had to be housed on their own and/or had certain anxieties and/or behavioural needs.
In August 2016 we moved to our current home and set about making it dog friendly so that I could apply for my daycare and boarding licence. In November 2016 I was granted my boarding licence and Taking The Lead continues to grow, with boarding being a huge success and with running waiting lists for walks and daycare.
Every year I send out a newsletter to all my clients. This includes highlights of the year, information of any changes and also my annual leave for the coming new year. This has worked really well for the last 7 years and is a great way for my clients to be kept up to date with current activities and my availability, so that they can plan their holidays too.
